Satoshi : How do you celebrate it?
Latika : We clean and decorate our homes with
lights and candles. We have guests for
dinner. We watch firework shows.

Duygu : Every year on 23rd April, we celebrate
National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.
Children’s Day is a gift from Mustafa
Kemal Atatürk. On 23rd April, many
children from different countries visit
Turkey and we celebrate Children’s Day
with them. Children from Turkey and from
different countries watch the parade.
They dance, sing songs and read poems.
They also wear traditional clothes. For
ten days they stay with Turkish families
and have fun. We have ceremonies at
schools, too. After the festival, children
are very sad to leave Turkey. It is a great
festival for the children of the World.
Larry : In the United States, we celebrate
Independence Day on 4th July every
year. Independence Day is our national
festival and it’s very enjoyable. In the
daytime, we decorate the houses and
streets with American flags. We have
baseball tournaments. People visit their
relatives because it is holiday. We have
barbecues or picnics for lunch. At night,
we watch the fireworks. We also go to
concerts.
